About Marcus

Photography of me office | Los Angeles Photographer

Here’s the thing about working with me: my sessions feel easy. Relaxed. Like you’re just hanging out with someone who happens to have a really good camera.

But behind that? I’m paying attention to everything.
How your outfit fits. Where your hair is falling. The angle of your shoulders. The light hitting your face. And most importantly — the exact moment when you stop overthinking and just let yourself be confident.

That’s the moment I’m looking for. And when it happens, that’s when we create something incredible.

You don't need to know what you're doing

Seriously. You’re not a model, and I don’t expect you to be.

I’ll guide you through every single pose, every expression, every micro-adjustment. I’ll tell you exactly what to do with your hands (because let’s be honest, hands are weird when you’re being photographed). I’ll make sure nothing looks stiff or awkward.

My job is to make you look like the most confident version of yourself — the version you might not always see, but everyone else does.

How I got here

I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and it started kind of accidentally.

I went to school for cinematography, and after graduation I was working with actors. I started taking headshots for them between projects, and something just clicked. It wasn’t just about getting a good photo — it was about directing the moment, sensing when something special was happening, and capturing it right then.

I fell in love with that feeling. Still am.

I’m one of the few portrait photographers with a formal degree in photography and a background in commercial fashion and beauty. That discipline shows up in how I work — the details matter, the technical stuff matters — but what really drives me is simpler than that.

I love showing people something in themselves they don’t always notice.

What I want for you

When you leave our session, I want you to feel different. More confident. Maybe even a little surprised at how you look when you’re truly comfortable in front of the camera.

Because here’s what happens: when you see visual evidence of your own power, your own presence — it shifts something. You start carrying yourself differently. You see yourself the way I saw you.

And honestly? That’s my favorite part of this whole thing.

“Such an amazing experience! Incredible hair + makeup, and Marcus made the girls feel totally comfortable in front of the camera.”
